In the shadows she cried,
Silent because she's afraid to die,
And even though the pain tears her up inside,
She won't let her tears make a sound,
She won't let her fear be found.
And when they say that she can live,
She's scared of living because she almost forgot how,
And overnight that strength was stolen from her veins,
And for a moment, over the world Death reigned.
She is strong, a burning flame,
And though her death comes from within,
She will stand until the end,
And shaking she falls, her body corrupted,
And through her eyes, her life runs.
Will you just let her die,
Will you just pass her by?
Will you forget that she was there,
Will you forget her last words?
She spoke to the world but no one heard,
And they all passed on, without a care,
Running for and obsessing over trivialities,
Never remembering their forgotten realities,
And the gentle hands of healers draw sleep over her eyes,
And in her mind sings a forgotten lullaby,
For though the trials can bring you down they also make you strong,
Remember this, she loved and lived, and would weep if you forgot
Her message to the world, for she knew the answer.
But when she woke from the deepest of living sleep,
She forgot all the dreams that found her in the deep,
She forgot and she now remembers years later, and now she weeps,
For her soul, she nearly forgot to keep.
When they made her body incomplete,
And left her with an everlasting reminder,
She found and threw away that which set her on fire,
Found and threw away what fed her agony,
And she's so happy just to be alive,
So happy because there's no burning pain inside.
Remember her, she wanted to save
That which God freely gave,
Remember her, she wanted to live
And by her choice she did,
And though only a time ago, the odds would have been tremendous,
You've brought forth the world, and forgotten you might have a soul,
Remember her,
She saved that which God freely gave.
Can you truthfully say you've done the same?
